This is not saying that fools show wisdom in their silence, but that silence conceals their folly. It does show that foolishness is bound up in the heart of mankind, and that we should use discretion when we open our mouths. This was a difficult one to think through. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

The Wise Man’s Foundation (see comment below)

The house represents a religious life; the rain represents divine judgment. Only the house built on the foundation of obedience to God’s Word stands, which calls for repentance, rejection of salvation by works, and trust in God’s grace to save through His merciful provision.

Taken from John MacArthur study Bible

If you are the center of your own universe, ie you worship yourself, how will you ever, find the one true God. If this is you, Jesus, is the only way to finding God! Praying your eyes will be opened to this truth, just as ours were opened when WE were blind. Thank you all, who follow me, and listen to what the Lord puts on my heart to share. You are a blessing to me, and encouragement.

A fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his own mind.
Proverbs 18:2 NASB

Lord, may our hearts humbly bow before you, in persistent prayer. May we be alert, to the needs of others, so we might lift them up. Reveal yourself to us, through answered prayer, even though it may not be, what we wanted the outcome to be. May we always remember, that you care about us and love hearing our petitions.

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

It may be foolishness to those who cant see it, but may we never get weary of telling those people the Gospel. For we know, that the Gospel is the power unto salvation to those who believe. Just as we were foolish, our eyes were opened by Salvation’s Grace. May we never give up on those who are blinded. God never gave up on us.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Love God, and walk in his ways and find life, both present and eternal .  The alternative, comes in the next couple of verses.  Reject God,  and his ways and you will find death, both in this present life and for all of eternity.  Something to consider wisely.

in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
Deuteronomy 30:16 NASB

Choose your friends wisely, is not just some old saying.  It is written from one of the wisest of all books in God’s Word.  Because God does not want see us harmed, but wants to us succeed in this world.

He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.
Proverbs 13:20 NASB
